Abstract
► Efficient IR emissions near second telecommunication window are observed in Ho3+-doped MHG glass. ► Maximum emission cross-sections are 2.94×10−21 and 2.08×10−21 cm2 for 1.2 and 1.39 μm emissions, respectively. ► 642 and 538 nm wavelengths are proved to be practical pumping conditions for 1.2 and 1.39 μm emissions, respectively. ► Gain anticipation indicates this material is attractive in developing 1.2 μm and E-band amplifiers.
