Abstract
⺠Electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra of methyl benzoate derivatives were recorded. ⺠The lowest energy absorption band consists of two overlapping components. ⺠The values of absorption and fluorescence transition dipole moments depend on the substituents. ⺠The change of the electronic and molecular structure takes place in the excited state.
