Abstract
► Broadband 2.84 μm emission obtained in Dy3+ doped ZBLAY glass. ► Radiative properties determined using the Judd-Ofelt theory. ► Energy transfer analyzed when pumped by conventional 808 nm LD. ► Present glass possesses high emission cross section and transition probability. ► Dy3+ doped ZBLAY glass is a good candidate for efficient 2.8 μm laser.
