Abstract
⺠ZnS nanowires synthesized by a VLS mechanism showed ultraviolet emission. ⺠Intensity of the violet emission of the ZnS nanowires was enhanced significantly by O2 annealing. ⺠Eenhancement is due to O and Au impurity atoms as well as Zn and S vacancies.
