Abstract
⺠The same intrinsic defects are responsible for luminescence in zirconia nanocrystals and single crystals. ⺠Intrinsic defect band position depends on excitation energy. ⺠Quasi-continuum defect states in ZrO2 band gap. ⺠Oxygen vacancies acts as deep traps for electrons.
