Abstract
► Fluorescent silica particles of 200 nm radius are prepared. ► Fluorescent dyes are entrapped into the particles. ► Fluorescent quenching by energy transfer of donor dye to acceptor dye indicates an overlay of the concentration gradients of the dyes. ► Fluorescence imaging shows that particle brightness is not homogeneous.
