Abstract
By introducing carboxyl and n-alkyl groups into a biphenyl molecule, we can increase the photoluminescence quantum yields of biphenyl derivatives in the solid state. The solid-state fluorescence maxima (λem) of 4-biphenylcarboxylic acid derivatives change according to the n-alkyl group introduced.
