Abstract
The luminescence properties of BaZr(BO3)2:5% Eu were investigated under ultraviolet (UV) and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation and different luminescence behaviors were observed by different excitation energies. After the analyses of the luminescence spectra, the result indicates that Eu3+ occupying non-centrosymmetric sites Ba2+ can be excited preferentially under 254Â nm excitation, while Eu3+ occupying centrosymmetric sites Zr4+ can be excited preferentially under 147Â nm excitation.
