Abstract
Stoichiometric BaxSr1âxTiO3 ceramics (x=0.7, 0.8, and 0.9) have been prepared by solid-state reaction method. It has been observed in our experiments that the photoluminescence (PL) spectra in such samples at room temperature were centered around 800Â nm; the results have been found to differ from observations in current literature. An explanation of this phenomenon was given, and the origin of such photoluminescence is ascribed to certain defects existing in these compounds, such as oxygen vacancies.
