The new composite lithium and sodium acetate (2:1Â mol%) glass doped with Eu(fod)3Phen-NO (fod=6,6,7,7,8,8,8-heptafluoro-2,2-dimethyl-3,5-octadionate) was prepared and characterized by differential scanning calorimetric and thermogravimetric techniques and electronic emission. The melting has not affected the complex structure because the typical 5D0â7FJ (J=0-4) transitions of the Eu3+ ion in the complex have not changed. The Sparkle model was used to predict the ground state geometry of the complex. The simple overlap model was used to calculate the crystal field and intensity parameters, the 5D0â7F1 transition splitting and the spontaneous emission coefficient. The mean relative difference between the experimental results and the theoretical predictions was below 13%.
