Abstract
Density, viscosity and refractive index of 1,4-dioxane (1,4-DX) and 1,2-ethanediol (1,2-ED) or 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD) binary liquid mixtures were measured at temperatures of 293.15, 298.15 and 303.15Â K and atmospheric pressure over the entire composition range. From the experimental data, excess molar volumes, excess thermal expansion coefficients, excess refractive indices, excess viscosities and partial molar volumes were determined. The sign and magnitude of excess quantities were used to discuss the nature and strength of molecular interactions in these solutions. Moreover, the obtained thermophysical properties were correlated with different proposed models such as Redlich-Kister, McAlister and Lorentz-Lorenz to examine the ability of these models to predict thermophysical properties. Adjustable parameters for the proposed models are also reported.
