Abstract
The possibility of interaction between PEGBE 206 + 1-Butanol and PEGBE 206 + MAE binary mixtures has been investigated by thermodynamics and 1H NMR spectroscopic technique. Densities and viscosities of binary liquid mixtures of poly(ethylene glycol) butyl ether (PEGBE) 206 with 1-Butanol and 2-(Methylamino) ethanol (MAE) have been measured at temperature T = 293.15 K, 303.15 K and 313.15 K. From the density and viscosity data, deviation in viscosity (Îη) and excess Gibb's free energy of activation of viscous flow (ÎGâE) have been evaluated. These data have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation, to obtain the binary coefficients and standard deviations. The molecular scale interactions have been investigated through 1H NMR spectroscopy. The NMR chemical shifts for various protons of PEGBE 206, 1-Butanol and MAE molecules and their deviations show multiple hydrogen bonding interactions of varying strengths between these binary systems.
