Abstract
Corrosion inhibition of three cationic surfactants based on vanillin was evaluated using three different techniques, weight loss, polarization and impedance. Surface coverage from weight loss at four different temperatures was used to fit different adsorption isotherms for obtaining more insight on the mechanism of adsorption on steel surface. The best adsorption isotherm was vilamil isotherm. The chemical structures of the prepared cationic surfactants were confirmed by different techniques, FTIR, 1HNMR and mass spectroscopy. The prepared inhibitors showed high inhibition efficiency for carbon steel in 1.0Â M HCl.
