Abstract
Density (ρ), viscosity (η) and speed of sound (μ) values are measured for the binary mixtures of 2-chloroaniline with isomeric butanols (1-butanol, 2-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol and 2-methyl-2-propanol) over the entire range of mole fraction at temperatures T = (303.15 to 318.15) K. Using the experimental data, the excess molar volume (VmE), excess isentropic compressibility (ksE), deviation in viscosity (Δη) and excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow (ΔG⁎ E) values have been calculated. All the investigated systems exhibit negative values of VmE and ksE; and positive values of Δη and ΔG⁎ E over the entire composition range. The calculated excess properties are discussed in terms of molecular interactions between present investigated binary mixtures. These excess functions have also been correlated using Redlich-Kister type polynomial equation. The formation of hydrogen bond in the equimolar binary mixture systems is identified by the experimental FT-IR values.
