Abstract
A highly sensitive ion-selective bulk optode membrane for the determination of Cu2 + ion content based on a plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane based on ingredients such as DBP, (E)-Nâ²-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)isonicotin-ohydrazide as ionophore and sodium tetraphenylborate (Na-TPB) as ionic additive was prepared. In addition to its high stability, reproducibility and relatively long lifetime, the proposed optical sensor revealed good selectivity for Cu2 + ions. The proposed sensor displays a calibration response for Cu2 + ions over a concentration range of 3.2 Ã 10â 5 to 8.28 Ã 10â 7 M with a limit of detection of 1.9 Ã 10â 7 M and a response time of 6 min. The proposed optical sensor was applied successfully for the determination of Cu2 + ion in tap water, river water and waste water samples.
