Abstract
Density (Ï) and viscosity (η) data were determined over the whole concentration range for the binary system of 1,2-ethanediamine (EDA) + polyethylene glycol 300 (PEG) at T = (293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, and 318.15) K as a function of composition under atmospheric pressure. From the experimental density and viscosity data, the excess molar volume and viscosity deviation were calculated, and the results were fitted to a Redlich-Kister equation to obtain the coefficients and estimate the standard deviations between the experimental and calculated quantities. Based on the viscosity data, excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow (ÎG*E), enthalpy of activation for viscous flow (ÎH*), entropy of activation for the viscous flow (ÎS*), and Gibbs energies of activation for viscous flow (ÎG*) were also calculated. Based on FTIR and UV-vis spectral results, the intermolecular interaction of EDA with PEG was discussed.
