Abstract
Thermodynamic, structural, transport and surface properties of liquid Bi-Pb alloys at 700Â K have been studied by using a simple statistical approach. In thermodynamic properties we have studied the free energy of mixing, the heat of mixing and the activity of both components of the alloy. Our study includes concentration fluctuation in long wavelength limit and Warren-Cowley short range order parameter for structural investigation of the alloys. We have studied viscosity and diffusion coefficients to understand transport properties. The surface behaviour has been studied by computing surface concentrations and surface tension of the alloy. The alloy is found to be symmetric in respect of thermodynamic behaviour. It is also revealed that the alloy is a weakly interacting hetero-coordination system in liquid state.
