Abstract
Densities and speeds of sound for the binary liquid mixtures of propylene glycol monomethyl ether (1-methoxy-2-propanol), CH3OCH2CH2CH2OH, propylene glycol monoethyl ether (1-ethoxy-2-propanol), C2H5OCH2CH2CH2OH, propylene glycol monopropyl ether (1-propoxy-2-propanol), C3H7OCH2CH2CH2OH, and propylene glycol monobutyl ether (1-butoxy-2-propanol), C4H9OCH2CH2CH2OH with methyl acetoacetate (1-methyl 3-oxobutanoate), CH3OCOCH2COCH3 have been measured over the whole composition range using Anton Paar DSA 5000 density and speed of sound analyzer at temperatures TÂ =(288.15, 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, and 308.15) Â K and atmospheric pressure. The density values have been used to calculate excess molar volumes, VmE, whereas speeds of sound results were used to calculate deviation in isentropic compressibility, âKS. The variations of these properties with the composition and temperature are discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
