Abstract
► Nine ethanolamine derived ILs were synthesized. ► ILs were characterized using IR and 1H NMR spectroscopies. ► In polar solvents ILs exist as separated solvated ions. ► In nonpolar solvents ILs exist as contacted ion pairs. ► Correlation between ΔGsolv as well as ΔEBE and difference in NBO charges is found.
