Thermodynamic and spectroscopic study of molecular interactions in the binary liquid mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and some substituted benzenes at different temperatures

► Binary mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone with some substituted benzenes are studied. ► Density and viscosity are measured and partial molar volumes are found at (303.15 to 318.15) K. ► Excess thermodynamic parameters showed deviation from ideal behavior. ► Viscosity values are used to check applicability of empirical relations of viscosity. ► IR studies suggest specific interaction in the mixtures and support thermodynamic findings.
