Abstract
► The activity of trypsin was studied in ionic liquid (IL) media. ► Trypsin activity in ILs was studied in both free and immobilized forms. ► Activity studies were performed in manual and automated modes. ► bmim [BF4] seemed to be a promising solvent for the enzymatic synthesis of peptides. ► Immobilized trypsin exhibited enhanced catalytic efficiency in IL media.
