Abstract
⺠We present the first Raman 'optical biopsy' images of the normal and malignant breast tissue of the same patient. ⺠Raman spectroscopy is able to characterize breast cancer tissue and distinguish between normal, and malignant types. ⺠Carotenoids and fatty acids and the products of their metabolism can be treated as Raman biomarkers.
