Abstract
► This study reports the interaction of aromatic hydrocarbons with p-chloranil in DMSO. ► Acoustic and excess parameters reveal the presence of strong interaction amongst solutes. ► Stability constant values are computed by ultrasonic and UV-Vis. methods and compared. ► The 'K' values reveal the structural features on the stabilities of these complexes. ► The complexes formed between chloranil and hydrocarbons are thermodynamically stable.
