Abstract
⺠Critical micelle concentration and degree of ionization of micelle for cationic gemini surfactant in water + alcohol mixed solvents are well correlated with octanol-water partition coefficient (Po/w) of alcohol additives. ⺠Comparison of 1,4-butandiol with 1,2-ethandediol with respect to their octanol-water partition coefficient (Po/w) suggests that though Po/w of 1,4-butandiol is lower, it is relatively better cosolvents. ⺠Interaction of alcohols with surfactant depends on length and branching of hydrophobic chain of alcohols and position and number of hydroxyl groups on it.
