Abstract
Excess molar volumes of binary mixtures of diethylene glycol monomethyl ether or triethylene glycol monomethyl ether or diethylene glycol monoethyl ether or triethylene glycol monoethyl ether + 1-alkanol at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure over whole composition range have been used for application of extended real associated solution (ERAS) model which accounts for hydrogen bonding effects as well as for free volume effects in associating mixtures. The ERAS model results obtained by adjusting the model parameters indicates strong hydrogen bonding effects between unlike molecules. The value of cross association constant KAB illustrates the fact that cross associates are more pronounced in mixture of lower 1-alkanol.
