Abstract
A novel polymeric PbII complex containing three different ligands, [Pb(μ-4,4′-bipy)(μ-OAc)(hfacac)]n (1) (4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, OAc− = acetate and hfacac− = hexafluoroacetylacetonate), has been synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal X-ray data showed that the coordination number in PbII ion is eight with holodirected geometry. The structure may be considered as a coordination polymer of lead(II) consisting of linear double chains formed by bridging 4,4′-bipy ligands and by connecting the acetate-bridged centrosymmetric {Pb2(OAc)2}2+ nodes. The self-assembly of compound 1 is likely to be caused by C-H···F-C, and π-π stacking interactions. The thermal stability of compound 1 was studied by thermal gravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA). Nano-sized PbO was obtained by thermolyses of compound 1 in oleic acid at 290 °C under air atmosphere. The nano-materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and IR spectroscopy. The thermal stability of nano-structure PbO was studied by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses and showed that there is no reportable loss of weight in the TGA curves that proves the existence of lead(II) oxide.
