Abstract
Molecular interactions have been studied from the formation of H-bonded complex between anisole in benzene with alcohol such as 2-butoxy ethanol, decyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol, o-cresol and o-chlorophenol. The first two are the aliphatic alcohols whereas the remaining are the aromatic alcohols. The dipole moment of 1:1complexes of the above said alcohols with anisole in benzene are computed by experimentally measured quantities like that static permittivity, permittivity at optical frequency and density using Huyskens model based on Onsager's theory. Experiments have been carried out at 303 K. Dipolar increment has been calculated for all the studied systems from the bond angle available from molecular orbital studies. This investigation shows that in all the studied systems redistribution of charges due to polarization effect is responsible for the dipolar increment.
