Abstract
Densities of binary mixtures of {N, N-diethylformamide (DEF) + benzene (or toluene or ethylbenzene)} have been determined over the full range of compositions at atmospheric pressure, using a vibrating-tube densimeter. The temperatures studied were T = (293.15, 303.15, 313.15, 323.15, 333.15, 343.15 and 353.15) K. The excess molar volumes VmE, calculated from density data, are negative over the whole mole fraction range for the whole temperature range, and increase with rising temperature, indicating the presence of specific interactions between DEF molecules and aromatic hydrocarbon ones. The VmE values have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. Others volumetric properties, partial molar volumes (Vm,1 and Vm,2), and partial molar volumes at infinite dilution of each component have been calculated using different methods.
