Abstract
Densities, speeds of sound and refractive indices of the binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran or tetrahydropyran with 1-chlorohexane have been measured at atmospheric pressure at the temperatures of 283.15, 298.15 and 313.15 K. Excess molar volumes, isentropic compressibilities and deviations in isentropic compressibility and refractive index have been obtained from experimental data and fitted by the Redlich-Kister equation. Excess molar volumes and deviations in isentropic compressibility are positive in the whole composition range for all the systems, while deviations in refractive index are negative. The temperature behavior of these properties are opposite for tetrahydrofuran and tetrahydropyran. Excess molar volumes, speeds of sound and isentropic compressibilities have been analyzed at 298.15 K using the Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory.
