Abstract
Experimental data on excess volumes, speed of sounds and viscosities at 303.15 K are measured for the binary systems of methyl tert-butyl ether with hexane, heptane, octane, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, cyclohexane and benzene over the whole range of composition. From the experimental data density (Ï), isentropic compressibility (ks), deviation in isentropic compressibility (Îks) and in viscosity (Îlnη) are calculated. The sound speeds are evaluated theoretically on the basis of Jacobson free length theory, Schaaffs collision factor theory and Nomoto theory. Viscosity data are analysed theoretically on the basis of corresponding states approach, Grunberg-Nissan treatment and Mc Allister model. Furthermore, the experimental results are discussed in terms of possible molecular interactions between unlike molecules.
