Abstract
Flory statistical theory has been employed successfully to multicomponent systems to discuss their thermodynamic behaviour. Previous expression of characteristic pressure for ternary systems has been modified by considering all the six interaction parameters. Using this modified expression density, ultrasonic velocity, internal pressure, adiabatic compressibility, thermal expansion coefficient and isothermal compressibility of three ternary systems, viz., toluene + n-heptane + n-hexane, cyclohexane + heptane + n-hexane and n-hexane + heptane + n-decane have been compared. The present work provides better results than previous work.
