Abstract
Solvent effects on the energy of excited and ground states of benzimidazolone in solution have been investigated by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The changes displayed by the photophysical properties of this molecule in different solvents can be explained in terms of a sum of dielectric polarity and hydrogen bonding effects taking part in the stabilisation of the structure.
