Abstract
Apparent molar volumes V2,Ï and standard partial molar volumes V2,Ï0 of LiBF4 have been determined at 298.15Â K from precise density measurements in propylene carbonate (PC) or ethylene carbonate (EC) based mixed solvents. The chosen cosolvents were dimethylformamide (DMF), tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetonitrile (AN), 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) and ethyl acetate (EA). The results have been interpreted from solvation of LiBF4 in carbonate based mixed solvents. It is shown that nature of the cosolvents plays an important role for the concentration dependence of V2,Ï0 values. Compared with the previous studies, the differences between ClO4â and BF4â have been embodied in the concentration dependence of V2,Ï0 values and also interpreted by the interaction of the anion with solvents.
