Abstract
Several bond valence parameters for lanthanide-oxygen bonds have been determined. For the first time, a dependence of the parameter R1 on the coordination number of central atoms in coordination polyhedra has been highlighted. Also for the first time, dependences of the parameter B on the lanthanide coordination number have been ascertained. Moreover, dependences of B on the atomic number according to wavy functions have been highlighted. Doubts have been raised about the validity of the common method which compares valences with the oxidation state and uses B as a universal constant of 0.37 Å in order to determine bond valence parameters.
