Abstract
⺠Diffraction of atomic and molecular beams is a tool to unravel surface structure and dynamics. ⺠Diffractive methods can be applied for fast inert atoms leading to FAD (fast atom diffraction). ⺠Diffractive methods can be applied for slow reactive hydrogen molecules leading to MHD (molecular hydrogen diffraction). ⺠The instrumentation of these methods is very different. ⺠Their theoretical basis is very similar.
