Abstract
► Diffraction of atomic and molecular beams is a tool to unravel surface structure and dynamics. ► Diffractive methods can be applied for fast inert atoms leading to FAD (fast atom diffraction). ► Diffractive methods can be applied for slow reactive hydrogen molecules leading to MHD (molecular hydrogen diffraction). ► The instrumentation of these methods is very different. ► Their theoretical basis is very similar.
