Abstract
⺠We observed and tuned the oxidation states of graphene by applying the potential. ⺠We show that atomic oxygen reversibly binds to less defective single-layer graphene. ⺠Oxidation of graphene was tuned by migration of oxygen ions. ⺠First-principles DFT calculations suggest two grapheneoxygen bonding configurations.
