Abstract
⺠A new class of terahertz-frequency surface emitters is proposed. ⺠The mechanism involves ultra-fast charge separation in a newly-formed surface. ⺠Charge transfer between surfaces is not necessary. ⺠The emission is modeled using ensemble Monte Carlo simulations. ⺠The mechanism may in part explain terahertz emission from peeling tape.
