Abstract
⺠We model the thermal decomposition of alkoxy chains grafted on silicon. ⺠Four types of elementary breaking steps of the hydrocarbon chain are considered. ⺠The predictions can account for the observations from infrared spectroscopy. ⺠The probability of each elementary step appears consistent with its reaction enthalpy.
