Abstract
⺠At room temperature, Ag islands on Si(111)-7 Ã 7 survive exposure to oxygen. ⺠The effect of oxygen is to change the height distribution of the Ag islands. ⺠DFT calculations show that this could be due to traces of atomic oxygen on top of, or beneath, Ag islands.
