Abstract
► Pt nanodot arrays on HOPG were prepared via Electron beam lithography ► The Pt dots are suitable for in situ electrochemical STM studies ► The Pt dots are stable on the HOPG up to E = 1.4 V vs. SHE ► Pt and C corrosion occur at E > 1.4 V ► Pt dissolution is accelerated if the electrode potential is cycled
