Abstract
⺠Electrochemical lateral force microscopy on Au(100). ⺠Friction depends strongly on the topmost layer of the surface structure. ⺠Friction is lower for the closed-packed reconstruction than for the (1 Ã 1) structure. ⺠Frictional changes are delayed with respect to electrochemical signals.
