Abstract
⺠We study the surface modification of LSMO thin films during preparation. ⺠A strontium rich and manganese depleted surface region is observed. ⺠A thorough search for contaminants is reported. ⺠Reports of a magnetically “dead-layer” are explained by this modified surface region.
