Abstract

âº Small amounts of adsorbed Mn eliminate the 5Ã2 and Î±â3Ã3 Au/Si(111) reconstructions. âº New 8Ã2, 10Ã2 and 221Ã221 structures develop. âº These structures are essentially Mn-diluted Au/Si(111) reconstructions. âº The 221Ã221 is plausibly metallic, while the 8Ã2 and 10Ã2 are semiconducting.
