Abstract
► Adsorbed ZnO dimers and trimers form linear chains on a Ag (111) surface. ► Early stages of ZnO growth on a Ag (111) surface is 2-dimensional and graphitic-like. ► ZnO adsorption on compressed Ag (111) relieves surface tension and causes rumpling.
