Abstract
⺠We studied the effects of solution temperature on 1-octanethiol SAM on gold surfaces. ⺠A new superstructure (3Ãâ7)R11° was found on the gold surfaces at 363 K. ⺠The STM images permitted assignment of four inequivalent OT molecules. ⺠SAM formation at higher temperatures resulted in the formation of larger pits. ⺠The fraction of the pit area increased with increasing solution temperature.
