Abstract
► We use DFT to study water diffusion on platinum terrace, steps and kinks. ► Water adsorbs more strongly to steps and kinks than the flat terrace. ► We find low activation barriers for water diffusion from terraces to kinks and steps. ► At low temperature water populates defect sites before wetting the lower terrace. ► The activation barrier for water diffusion increases with cluster size.
