Abstract
⺠We use DFT to study water diffusion on platinum terrace, steps and kinks. ⺠Water adsorbs more strongly to steps and kinks than the flat terrace. ⺠We find low activation barriers for water diffusion from terraces to kinks and steps. ⺠At low temperature water populates defect sites before wetting the lower terrace. ⺠The activation barrier for water diffusion increases with cluster size.
