Abstract
⺠Domain walls in Ag monolayer structures on Si (111) investigated in detail by STM. ⺠The domain walls reveal one-dimensional metallic states. ⺠Metal-insulator transition explained by Peierls mechanism. ⺠Localization effects occur only in the Peierls-nested state.
