Abstract
We have studied the phonons in hybrid multilayer structures formed by combining finite Fibonacci and periodic multilayers. We have employed a nearest-neighbor force constant model which gives a reasonably good description of the bulk phonon spectra of several metals. We present the phonon spectra of these systems at symmetry points of the 2D Brillouin zone. A selective confinement of the vibrations in the periodic or Fibonacci part of the structure is obtained for different frequency ranges at the symmetry points for different thicknesses of the multilayers forming the structure.
