Abstract
Dynamic instabilities during bulk CO electro-oxidation on poly- and single crystalline rotating Pt electrodes in different electrolytes were investigated experimentally. In sulphuric and perchloric electrolytic media, only bistability is observed. The dependence of the width of the bistable regime on some parameters is discussed. The addition of small amounts of chloride ions induces current oscillations under potentiostatic conditions on polycrystalline Pt, Pt(1Â 1Â 0) and Pt(1Â 0Â 0) electrodes. Existence range, shape and mean frequency of the mainly irregular kinetic oscillations vary significantly with the crystallographic structure of the electrode surface.
