Abstract

The problem of wave scattering by a magnetodielectric body of revolution is solved. A new version of modified method of discrete sources (MMDS) is offered. This version of MMDS is suitable both for strongly elongated or strongly flattened bodies and toroidal bodies. The method is tested by verification of the optical theorem and calculation of the residual of boundary condition at the scatterer surface. The angle dependences of the pattern for various geometries of the body cross-section are obtained. The check of the Ufimtsev theorem for flattened Chebyshev particle is fulfiled.

► The new version of the modified method of discrete sources is developed. ► The method is applied to elongated, flattened and toroidal bodies of revolution. ► The effective algorithm for construction of the auxiliary surfaces is offered. ► Comparison of the results obtained by MMDS and pattern equation method is made. ► The advantages of the new version compared with the standard MMDS are shown. ► The check of the Ufimtsev theorem is fulfilled.
